There was no tech tree like the one in Supreme Commander 2, you didn't upgrade your units on the fly, you had to build more advanced factories to build more complex units. Maps were huge and you could have up to 1000 units.

Unfortunately this would stall a lot of players because they would start building tons of things and their rate of resources needed would far exceed the amount of resources that were coming in and nothing would get built and they wouldn't know how to recover. The biggest difference between Supreme Commander 1 and 2 is the economy and the scale. In Supreme Commander everything was expressed in rates of how fast energy and mass were coming in, and when you built things it built at a rate instead of paying the bulk of the resources up front. Me and my buddies still have 8 player LAN parties all the time playing that game, none of us play Supreme Commander 2 anymore.

Where to start? I agree, Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance was way better than Supreme Commander 2.
Texturing this results in highly detailed maps.Ive researched Square Enix on map building but they (I assume) only published the game, nothing found.ĭid anybody contacted some of the developers? So is there anybody out there who has knowledge on these assumptions?Links to sites where information is published, or forums, or anything, is highly appreciated. Thanks already.Jesper. I use Hex Edit for everything so far. This is the part where I really could use the help of everybody who allready worked on this.I now there's a link but I cant find it, it grinds my gears!I have some thoughts on how maps are build. They used the same setup as in Forged Alliance, with an terrain/heightmap.On top of this map a 3d model is placed, because of the big size its possible to move units. In example building an engineer in a factory when finished it moves itself to a point. So the developers could have used the exact same 3d tool for creating the map object and units. Guessing.zlib header, hex: 78 9CI also decompressed the zlib part:Result: the file ends with:Im positive 99.9% sure about that this is part is decompressed correctly. Now assuming this decompressed part is compiled stuff, or some sort of type where the quoted text is readable with hex reader. Hi there,Im currently looking into file structures.Started with smallest file within de decompressed MAPS.SCD file.Go into a directory and looked at.bdf files, they contain a structure like this:starts with an MFDB header.some lines I cant explain, probably array, pointer, index or something. Pack of modified extra maps for Supreme Commander 2. The biggest totally free game fix & trainer library online for PC Games. If you are looking for maps for Supreme Commander or Fallen Alliance, both which are far superior, there are still quite a few active files at FileFront. There was no editor released at launch, and there may not be one yet.

I don't think there is an extensive mod community for SupCom 2 like there was for the first two games.
